Kirk
Mathews | Chief Executive Officer | Principal + Founder
Kirk Mathews has 21 years healthcare experience concentrated in
physician recruiting. Prior to co-founding IMI in 1997, Kirk
was Senior Vice President of Cejka & Company, responsible for
managing one of the nation’s largest physician recruiting enterprises
with a search portfolio of over 300 clients. His experience
includes: management; sales; operations; recruiting strategy;
physician compensation and benefits planning and design; and employment
contract design and negotiations. In 1989 he served as Vice
President of Clayton Medical Associates after serving as Senior
Recruiting Consultant with Jackson & Coker, the nation’s largest
physician recruiting firm at the time.
Kirk received his BS in Accounting and MBA from Northwest Missouri
State University where he was a decorated athlete; named as an
All-American Quarterback and inducted into the Northwest Missouri
State Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001. Kirk is a Member of
the Society of Hospital Medicine, serving on the SHM Workforce
Summit Committee, and an original Member of The Phoenix Group,
a Hospitalist industry think-tank. Kirk is a frequent speaker
on the topics of Hospitalist Programs and Hospitalist recruiting,
and is a contributing writer for the SHM Best Practices Hospitalist
Course. He has also written a book A Practical Guide to Hospitalist
Recruitment and Retention, released in the Fall of 2008 and
published by HC Pro Inc.
