TThe Nebraska Medical Center is a 689-bed not-for-profit hospital,
which is the state's largest healthcare facility featuring the
expertise of over 1,000 academic and private practice physicians
who practice in all major specialties and sub-specialties. The
Nebraska Medical Center serves as the primary teaching hospital
for the University of Nebraska Medical Center and has a dominant
regional reputation in the service lines of cardiology, neurological
sciences, oncology, and transplantation. The hospital is one of
only 61 nationally-designated Clinical Cancer Centers. It is a
founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. Additionally,
they have received the magnet designation for extraordinary nursing
care by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The Nebraska
Medical Center is among the select few in the nation to receive
recognition among the "Thomson 100 Top Hospitals: Performance
Improvement Leaders." Most recently the Nebraska Medical
Center was recognized as one of the 2009 "Top 100 Hospitals" for
nurses to work by Nursing Professionals magazine.
